Secure Card on File (SCOF) allows merchants, PSPs and commerce platforms to tokenize Account PANs entered by consumers or existing Account PANs held on file, replacing each PAN with a unique token (subject to issuer participation). These tokens can be used for e‑commerce and in-app transactions in the same way as Account PANs.

Mastercard Checkout Solutions simplifies network tokenization through a single platform that supports multiple products. Secure Card on File extends the capabilities of MDES to support additional use cases and value added services for cardholders.
SCOF manages tokenization processes for issuers, as well as merchants, commerce platforms and their service providers, ensuring cardholder payment information is secure as it passes between entities.
